July Visitors (The Kiefers and Sue Horvath)

Visitors!!! We were so lucky to have people join us in discovering our new home in July. My friend Sue Horvath was travelling around Europe and stopped by Berlin on July 1st. We had only been back from Italy a few days and were definitely not quite put together yet but anyone who knows Sue, knows how mellow she is, and she didn't mind a bit. We took her to the Brandenburg gate because that's a must here in Berlin
We also took her to a cool part of the wall that my sister Katy had told us about. That's about all we know of Berlin at this point (sorry Sue!). The next couple of days, we took her to the Schlactensee (the lake near us) and a yummy gelato joint, on our favorite mode of transportation -- the bike!
I think the only downfall was that we don't have any blankets at our house yet so we had to borrow from my sister and her family who are diehard Maple Leaf fans. So when Sue went to get into bed, she almost threw up--she had to sleep under a giant Maple Leaf's blanket-HA! I think she slept soundly though knowing that the Colorado Avalanche had just won the Stanley Cup - woo hoo!! Thank you for such a fun first visit Sue! You're welcome back anytime (maybe a Northern lights visit???). Maybe the next time we'll even have a decent blanket to offer and possibly some more food or maybe a kitchen chair to share.
Then a couple of weeks later we got the Kiefer crew here. They were in the middle of a big European adventure and made a 3 day stop. It was so fun to have the Williams be able to show the Kiefers and us around Berlin. We had a great time at the Schlachtensee and of course, gelato.
Then we had a big day walking and taking the train all around downtown. The Bundestag building (which is kind of like the the US House of Reps) is a really cool building that gives a great brief history of Berlin. We went to a part of the wall, found some cool art, stopped by an amazing bookstore called Dussman's, and of course, ate some more gelato (I thought we were done with gelato after Italy but apparently it's become a staple to our diet here).
We finished our big day off with the Williams favorite Syrian restaurant.
We learned that our place is big enough to comfortably host a family a five (so start planning your adventures people, we're ready to host!) I'm not sure Charlie or Kiefer left Lennon's side once. Gotta love cousins. Thank you for a great visit Kiefers!
